Ballet Afsaneh
From the historic crossroads of Eurasia to the intersecting diversity of a new America, Ballet Afsaneh programs present eloquent testament to the unique Central Asian expressive arts.
This critically acclaimed performance ensemble presents the dance, music and poetry of the historic Silk Road regions of Central Asia. Traditional repertory includes the folkloric and classical dances of Iran, Tajikistan, Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan and India. Contemporary work melds ancient art forms with modern dance and theater with a unique and richly imagistic approach. Ballet Afsaneh produces an annual home season in the San Francisco Bay Area of California and presents programs at major performing arts venues, festivals, university theaters, schools, community centers and special events. The company tours internationally and in the United States.

Alborz Academy
Inspiring students with the beauty of Persian culture and creative academic achievement, Alborz Academy Persian language programs integrate music, dance, visual arts, poetry and calligraphy.
Alborz Academy is a fully accredited foreign language program. Student receive foreign language credit for many local SF Bay Area school districts.
Afsaneh Dance Academy
Dance is the universal language .... Through our dance education programs young people and families gain understanding and appreciation for culture. The programs concentrate on traditional dance of Iran, Afghanistan, Tajikistan and other Central Asian regions.
Nejad World Music Center
An award winning music education center established by Ostad Nejad, master musician, composer and talented teacher. The Center is dedicated to preserving Persian culture, music and instruments by fostering musical education for Iranian-American children, youth and the general American public. NWMC introduces Persian music and culture to the younger generation growing up in the Bay Area. NWMC believes that teaching the beauty of Persian music creates a greater
understanding and unity between Iranian and American cultures and strengthens the cultural integrity of the younger generation of Iranian Americans. The Nejad World Music Center Youth Orchestra annually presents many public programs. Past partners include the Asian Art Museum and The San Francisco World Music Festival. |

Tajik Dance Inititiative
Tajikistan, north of Afghanistan, east of Uzbekistan, to the west and north of Pakistan and China, this once remote region of the world maintains a deep connection to dance in all of its secular and spiritual forms. In 2005, AACS and the artists of our performance ensemble, Ballet Afsaneh, launched the Tajik Dance Initiative. The program engages Tajik artists, scholars and arts administrators with their international counterparts. Creating opportunities for collaborative work, and support for the dance and related expressive arts of Tajikistan.
The Translation Project
Founded in 2003 by project director, Niloufar Talebi in collaboration with AACS, The Translation Project mission provides for research in, and presentation of, contemporary Iranian literature to a worldwide audience in multiple languages and media. Past AACS collaborative projects with The Translation Project include the production of ‘Midnight Approaches…’ a DVD of short films featuring contemporary Iranian poetry in translation.
